Beauty tip: Sudocrem for spots, after shaving and more

Every girl has her beauty secrets. Some are willing to share these and some girls just want to keep it a secret. Luckily I'm one of those girls who likes to share!

Today I will be discussing a multifunctional product that every girl should have in her stash: Sudocrem!
Sudocrem is the thick, white cream for baby butts. You probably know it that way. But I'm here to tell you there are other ways to use this product from heaven!

Who doesn't know Sudocrem? At least one mommy in your family or environment uses it/has used it on the little butt of her child. But there's more to know about Sudocrem!

Shaving
If you have sensitive skin like I do, you know the problem of shaving: the itch, little bumps and irritation. This is how I discovered the benefits of Sudocrem. When a baby has irritation on the butt, it's similar to the irritation that I coped with after I shaved. So I bought a jar and that was the day heaven opened up to me. Okay, that's a little exaggerated, but you get the point!

Let me sketch a scenario for you. You just shaved down under. After, you put on some beautiful panties: they're a little tight on the sides (bikini line) and the material is lace. Can you predict what will happen? Irritation and itch, guaranteed.
After you shaved, put on some Sudocrem and you'll be fine! A little side note: of course everyone reacts differently on products, but from what I've heard, it has a positive effect on almost everyone. Oh, and watch out with black panties and too much Sudocrem. It might transform your black panties into white panties!

Ingredients
Spots!
Sudocrem is also a good product for spots. I did a little research (just a little) and I'll try to explain how it works on spots.
Sudocrem contains zinc oxide, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate, BHA (beta-hydroxy-acid) and a little lavender oil.
Zinc oxide is also used in skin care products for acne. This ingredient makes the pores appear smaller, works anti-inflammatory and it gives a matte finish. Bezyl benzoate and benzyl cinnamate stimulate the skin to produce new skin cells and it stimulates the skin to recover itself. BHA works anti-inflammatory too, but it also prevents inflammation. And last but not least, Sudocrem contains lavender oil, which kills bacteria, helps with infected skin and an irritated skin.

So. Funny thing is, I didn't know all this when I started using Sudocrem on my spots. I just thought: well if it helps with the irritation on my shaved body parts, it has to stop a spot too. After all a spot is irritation. Looking back at that, I like my thinking.. Haha!

Anyway, I have combination skin, so if it works on me, it doesn't say that much. At least, that's what I thought. My aunt and her daughter have problem skin. They have many spots and my aunt even suffers acne on her chin. I told them to try Sudocrem. They did and after a few days the results were positive! My aunts acne had decreased and my cousin's skin looked better too.

My experience is that when I use Sudocrem on a spot, the first day the spot hurts less, the second day it's less red and the third day it's gone. Three days, ladies, and the bastard is gone! No more waiting 14 days before the pimple has decided to move (from your cheek to your forehead..). I like to use it at night, before I go to sleep. Sudocrem is white and leaves the skin white, so I recommend you use it at night too. Besides, while sleeping your skin is repairing itself and Sudocrem can help your skin doing so.

EDIT: Grace/Allthatslap pointed me on this blog post about acne (and Sudocrem)! I suggest you read this, before you actually decide to use it on your face!!

My jar of Sudocrem. Not much left!

Other things you can use it for
Mostly I use Sudocrem for my spots and after shaving. But there are many more ways to use this amazing product. You can use it on:
  • The baby butt. Duh.
  • Any redness (I also use it after I tweezed my eyebrows)
  • Dry skin
  • Damaged skin
  • Minor burns
  • Rash
  • Sunburn
  • Eczema
  • Bed sores
  • Grazes
  • Chicken pox
  • And as a night cream (for dry skin)
Howeverrrrr
This post about Sudocrem contains tips and things I personally experienced. When I cope with spots, I see result after 3-4 days. My cousin's only and impure skin got better after 3-4 weeks. It is possible that your skin reacts differently on Sudocrem. Keep in mind that Sudocrem contains a mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum), so there is a slight chance that your skin will get worse if you use it for a long period. Your skin can get clogged because of the mineral oil. I recommend you try it on your spots, but not for a long period. I don't want anything on my conscience and, even worse, I don't want your skin to get even worse! Also, this is not to scare you. I just like to completely inform my readers: the pros and the cons.

Well, there you go! A crash course How To Use Sudocrem. Sudocrem is not that expensive either, did I mention that? No? But that's the best part! I don't remember how much I paid for my 125g jar, but I think it was approximately €4,- A jar lasts you forever, so there's no need to buy a big one, actually! Unless you use your Sudocrem on your whole body (dry skin).

Hope you find the tips helpful and I hope that I explained it all well. Excuse my English, ladies (and gentlemen, why not). Most of you already know that English isn't my native language and explaining something that's less simple than how to put on makeup can be a bit hard for me sometimes. But I like to challenge myself, so that's why I ended up writing it anyway :)

If you have more tips on how to use Sudocrem, please share them in a comment!

  1. Sudocrem is so good! i only discovered this a little while ago. My sister uses it for my neice but i never thought to use it for myself. My skin was really irratated so my little sister actually advised me to use it. So i literally used to cover my face init and go to sleep. It improved my skin alot and i didnt really suffer with bad break outs. I need to start using it again though. Great post! x

    1. I love using it too! But I think you should be careful with covering your face with it every night, since it contains mineral oils, which can cause your skin to clog! Also, read Allthatslap's comment below!

But glad you loved the post! X

    1. Graag gedaan! Ja, het is gewoon te koop bij de drogist, en volgens mij zelfs bij de supermarkt. Even zoeken bij het baby vak en dan zie je het vanzelf vaak. Het is een grijze pot met een rode sticker, valt niet te missen :)

  6. Hey lovely - I used to use this on my spots but after speaking to several skin care specialists I have been told not to use this on my spots at all, they dont recommend it at all!!!
If you want check out Caroline Hiron's blog posts on it - she is well known in the beauty and blogging world and she is highly against using it too!

    http://www.beautymouth.com/2012/05/acne-cheat-sheet.html

I must say when I did use it, it was okay at drying out my acne but didnt actually do anything to prevent it. Also it contains parabens and other things that are not good for the skin.
My advice - leave it for other uses, but if it works for you then....what can I say!?

    Love Grace xx

    1. Thank you for your comment, Grace! I took a look at the post and I just edited my blog post and added the link! For me it worked, but like I said in the post, I don't think it's a cure either, since it contains a lot of mineral oils. And we all know they clogg the skin! I use it, but I don't have problem skin, so I didn't think it could do anything bad (I use it for years now). But I'll definitely change it in the post! Thank you!!

  19. I just bought Sudocream to use on my spots - I'm glad to see that there are differing results in terms of length of time - that's what drew me to your post in the first place! I've only used it for a week now, and while it is killing my spots, it's not zapping them instantly like I heard for others. So good to know it's a process. Also for shaving - YAY! I'm planning on shaving tonight, so glad to know it's got a double use. Thanks for a great post!

A few individuals discover that acne scars are an undesirable update of a difficult and bothersome condition. 27. I am a huge fan of Korean beauty and all of the different SkinCare products and routines that they have. Most of my routine comes from an app called SKIN AQUA, which I really recommend to anyone Also from the app I've been using the PEEL OFF MASK from Globe, which is a brand I had never heard of before. But since trying this product I've been hooked on the brand. Not only do they have a peel off mask, but they have a new product that really interests me. It's a CRYO FREEZE GLOBE that you put on for a minute and it freezes your skin and supposedly makes a mask last a week. It's something I've never experienced before, and I'm very interested in trying it out.
