Beauty Tip: Eyes, Face, Lips - in that order!

Source

About 90% of the beauty bloggers and YouTubers start with doing their face make up: foundation, concealer, blush, etc. In some way it makes sense. You get the canvas ready, before you can start painting on it. But I'm here to tell you that you should switch the order & why!

Eyeshadow fallout gone wrong..
Source

How many time have you done your whole makeup look, with extra care, and then.. Fallout. The eyeshadow is everywhere. No problem, you can swipe it away with a fan-brush or a big powder brush. But if you wait a little too long, the eyeshadow sets and ruins your makeup. It may not be obvious, but your face makeup will not look as flawless as before!

Left: face after applying eye makeup - right: face after swiping away fallout. Looks better, but not flawless

Without eyeshadow this scene occurs as well. Imagine: you just applied your foundation and concealer and you start doing your mascara. Oops, bottom lashes ruin everything because you accidentally look down. Oops, your cheek is black, because your hand (with mascara brush) slipped. Oops, you dropped your face in a pile of eyeliners and accidentally moved your head up and down and now your entire face is ruined. It happens

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Start with doing your eye makeup, whether it is or isn't eyeshadow. Once you're done, start with your foundation, apply concealer and your blush/contour/highlighter. And once you're done, your lips can be provided with a little lip paint!

You gotta love my photoshop skills by the way. I bet you didn't notice that the last two pictures were photoshopped. Well, they are. It's not real fallout. Fooled you!

In what order do you apply your makeup?

  4. completely agree! i also find i feel the need to wear less foundation/concealer once my eyes are done, but if it start with foundation i always wear too much.
eyes are the hardest bit so it's definitely best to start with them so mistakes can be corrected without ruining the rest of your makeup.

  6. LMAO at the fall out. Sorry I didn't had a picture, i usally try to capture my makeup all pretty and stuff, not fallout-y :P
You know I do my makeup in this order. I'm too lazy to pick up a tissue and hold it underneath my eye to capture fall out. I mean, save the trees! And I never put foundation over my lids, because it will crease in 5 minutes, no joke. I just put concealer colour primer and it works.
    Great post, my love Xx

    1. It's okay, love! I was surprised I didn't have any too, since I used to do many tutorials and I remember that I always coped with fallout over my face. Lol this is ideally for lazy people like you. And I. I don't put foundation on my lids either. Everything creases with my, except eyeshadow primer and my new MAC concealer. Thank you, gorgeous, I'm glad you like it! X

  9. I've started doing my eyes first for this very reason. It's strange getting used to it at first, I automatically want to grab that foundation first thing, but it really does help! And you should've completed her look with some bright red lipstick! Lol :D

  12. This is so true, even when we wipe it away, it's still not the same, there's this dirty look going on.. I always try to start with eyes first but most of the time I unconsciously start with face make-up & then remember when it's too late..
    Fallout sucks..!

    1. It'll never be the same after you wiped away the fallout! I know exactly what you mean, it's a habit you need to break. At first I grabbed my concealer & foundation too but now I automatically grab the eyemakeup first :) X
