I'm talkin' about blue eyes, blue eyes. What's the matter, matter?

A smokey eye, but a liiiitle bit different. I like to play with colours every now and then, but I also love to play with the contrast between light and dark colours. As a brown-eyed girl I consider myself lucky! Most colours go well with my eyecolour.

Got curious how I did this smokey eye? Keep on reading for a tutorial!

This smokey eye is really easy to do! But you do need to be a bit patient, because it requires much blending. I used a blue-purple colour. If blue is not your colour, just replace it with another! A beautiful green maybe? It's your call!

The products I used

  • Max Factor Colour Precision Eyeshadow - Pearl Beige
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Mono - 01 Snow White/Blanc Neige
  • Manhattan Multi Effect Eyeshadow Wet & Dry - 54 Dark Blue
  • L'OrĂ©al Contour Kohl - 131 Jet Black
  • Black colour from my Maqbul Palette
  • Essence Gel Eyeliner - 01 Midnight In Paris
  • Essence Eyeshadow - 02 Winter Crystals
  • Max Factor Masterpiece MAX Mascara - Black

  • First you start with an eyeshadow base. I like to use a liquid eyeshadow as a base to intensify the white colour.
  • Apply your white/light eyeshadow over your eyeshadow base. I chose to keep the colour under the crease, because I wanted to get my darker colour intense.
  • Create a crease and outer-V with your blue eyeshadow. I used a blue with a purple undertone. This colour wasn't quite pigmented, but I liked working with it, so I could build the colour up and blend easily.

  • Blend your eyeshadow. Make sure you blend really well. After this you can build up the colours and make the smokey eye as intense as you like. What I did was: apply white, apply blue, blend. And repeat until you reached the right result. This might require the patient I was warning you for. But in the end, it's more than worth it! The better you blend, the better the result. So take your time on this part.
  • Apply black kohl liner in your (under and upper) waterline.
  • Apply black kohl liner under your waterline and smudge a bit with a Q-tip. Then apply a mixture of the blue and a black eyeshadow on the black eyeliner under your waterline and blend well.

  • Create a V with your black kohl liner by following the lines of your eyes. This doesn't have to be done neatly.
  • Take a little of the black eyeshadow on your brush and blend the V. Blend well. This gives the illusion of depth. After blending apply a little more black. This will be more intense, because of the kohl liner you blended.
  • Apply gel liner on your upper lashline, without a wing. Before it dries, smudge it just a little. Apply gel liner again, but this time very neat and wing it out.
  • Apply some highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes and on your brow bone. (I actually forgot doing this, until I made some pictures and saw something was missing!)
  • Curl your lashes and apply mascara. Use at least two coats. You can also use falsies. That'll look great with this look!

That was the eyelook! After you're done, whipe away any fall-out. Apply your favourite foundation and concealer. This eyelook looks fabulous with a flawless skin! You can also fill in your eyebrows, if necessary. Try not to overdo it, since this is quite a powerful look. I recommend a subtle pink blush with this look and a nude lipstick or something that's not too obvious. Eventually you want your eyes to stand out!

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial!
